9 Techniques To Stop Negative Thinking


Negative thinking for most of us may already be part of ourselves. When things do not fit into plan, we easily feel depressed and can not see the good side of the incident.

Negative thoughts do not carry anywhere, except to create a bad feeling, which then will result in our performance disappointing. This could be an endless loop.

Jessica Padykula suggests nine techniques to prevent and overcome negative thoughts that are as follows:

1. Live in the present

Thinking about the past or the future is something that often makes us anxious. Rarely do we panic because of the events of the present. If you find your mind is supported in what has happened or what has not happened, remember that only the present can we control.

2. Tell yourself positive

Tell yourself that you are strong, you can. Say it all the time, anytime. Particularly, start the day by saying positive things about yourself and that day, no matter if that day you have to make a difficult decision or you do not trust what you have told yourself.

3. Believe in the power of positive thoughts

If you think positive, positive things will come and the difficulties will feel lighter. Conversely, if you are negative, negative things will happen to you. This is a universal law, like the law of gravity or the exchange of energy. It will not be easy to change your mindset, but its effort is proportional to the results you can pick.

4. Do not stay silent

Search for what makes you think negatively, improve, and go back. If it can not be fixed again, stop complaining and regret because it will only spend your time and energy, also makes you feel worse. Accept what has happened, pick the lesson / lesson from it, and go back forward.

5. Focus on the positive things

When we are being negative, we often forget what we have and focus more on what we do not have. Make a journal of gratitude. No matter the time, write down every five positive things that happen on that day. Positive things can be big things or just little things like 'sunny day' or 'dinner this afternoon is amazing'. As long as you stay consistent doing this activity, it is able to turn your negative thinking into a positive thought. And when you start feeling negative, review the journal again.

6. Move

Exercising releases endorphins that make your feelings better. Whether it's just walking through blocks or running ten kilometers, physical activity will make us feel better. When you feel down, fifteen minutes of sporting activity can make you feel better.

7. Face your fear

Negative feelings arise from fear, the more fear you will live, the more negative thoughts in you. If you are afraid of something, do something about it. Fear is a part of life but we have the option of not letting fear stop us.

8. Try something new

Trying new things can also improve your confidence. By saying yes to your life opens more opportunities for growth. Stay away from mind 'yes, but ...'. New experiences, small or big, make life more fun and useful.

9. Try another way

When things do not go well, look for ways to see them from a more positive point of view. In every challenge there are advantages, in every advantage there are challenges.
